4th June 2022. What jubilee? It's Queen's dross or King's Cross. There's no contest, WHARVES are playing at The Water Rats!

It's the North London theatre that has witnessed legendary music dramas from Bob Dylan and Oasis to our most recent trip (also a This Feeling show) for The Chase, Coco and the Lost and friends on the Alive tour.

This evening's entertainers offer a variety show of showy guitar and dynamics fuelled sets (also from Sourdough, Ramona Marx and Playing Field).

WHARVES are on a UK then Australian tour and they really are everything you’re waiting on… The Newer Order band to listen to, sing along to and dance to. Euphorically.

Another one for both The Water Rats and This Feeling’s star shaped alumni.

WHARVES

Affable, classic dance rock straight outta Lennox Head, a small village on the coast of New South Wales. These four friends are possessed by a global psyche toned sound that could make any time of the week into a Saturday night - and enjoying where the adventure takes them.

This was my first time catching them live, I knew they were gonna be high quality, from what I’d heard, I just didn’t know I’d feel so joyous. WHARVES pulse a consistent supply of big tunes. Universal crafted compositions that draw deep on diverse influences to give their primal dream-scapes a newer wave twist, re-imagined for the now and next. Not a supergroup but definitely a super group.

Before the show, I had grabbed them for a few minutes of introductory conversation and news on their next plans (including an exclusive!) so take five and join Matt, Fraser, Scott and Mike for a chat in the van.

If you can get to see WHARVES live, be prepared to rave then shout out for extra songs at the end of their show.

To put that last sentence into context, after yelling heartily for the band to play their whole set again (which you can hear at the end of the above five minutes), London actually roared expectantly when WHARVES back on stage to unplug their gear.
