Pythies - 'Eclipse' and live trips

TheZineUK documenting of music magick adds more witches to our cast, cats and crew; Meet Parisian grunge rock trio, Pythies and their storming single No.3, ‘Eclipse’.

#FuturePicks - Pythies grew into our ears via Cornwall’s No.1 punx, The Velvet Hands, a band who do a top line in word-of-mouth alongside pure entertainment. Here’s another top recommendation.

Born at the end of 2022 when composer/musician, Lise L, formed a femme force musical project, (face)melting and welding the likes of L7, Hole, Babes In Toyland with her taste for witchcraft.

“Three Is The Magic Number”

By 2023, meeting punk tigress guitarist, Thérèse La Garce and wild energy drummer Anna B. Void, Lise fronts a trio of the most riotous grrrls!

Their alchemy boiled and bubbled into Pythies who got busy with recording, releasing, gigging and building instant rapport and respect with audiences.

As TheZineUK is a situationist tapestry powered by the moon (and working class women), Pythies have our immediate attention. For instance, their 2023 song ‘Moon In Gemini’ was born to star, it’s a sign!

Pythies: Ones To Watch 2024

The bottom line of their music is raw, roar-along tunes - riot paced, boldly fierce and ready for anything.

Engaged and enraged, Pythies don’t shy away from politics - or a melody. Let’s just dive in like the sexy witches we can all be whatever our gender - and enJOY.

Impactive new single, ‘Eclipse’, is an instant rocked classic.

Delivered at a brain shaking car-chase-tempo.

Written in the stars.

An astronomical release written around the lunar eclipse of 28th October and woven, with guitars, into the near future…

Pythies are playing their first London date at Omeara on April 26th when they support The Velvet Hands at This Feeling. It’s part of an expanding tour.

Lise also sings vocals on the forthcoming Velvet Hands single, ‘Chick Habit’, a cover of a Serge Gainsbourg classic which will be released on 5th April.

In their own words

“If the Delphi oracles don’t speak to you, maybe three chicks screaming about how they despise patriarchy would do it. And if that’s not your thing, you will at least be moshing. Carried by dissonant and grunge melodies, Pythies draws you into all of the underground feminist and esoteric culture that you adore”.
