Women In Music: Mad About the Louise Schofield/MOSES video!

Spill The Sound by 'The Yard Media and Film Team'

The video for unhinged-pop sparkler 'Mad (about my dreams)' by MOSES, is also the directorial debut by multi-tasking (radio, tv, events, host, DJ, comedian, actor, games podcaster, technician and recent BBC Sounds guest), Louise Schofield!

"Using the skills I've built up, it was a treat getting to create this video.”
(Louise)

When not hosting on the red carpet of the National Film Awards or presenting her ‘Made In’ show on Islington Radio, this energised Nottingham lass is the music journalist who interviewed the most artists during lockdown (GET ON! TV sessions with Roobi Live/End Of The Trail) during 2020-2021.

So it was especially ace seeing Lou end last year on the scotts menswear billboards, after hosting TheZineUK interviews at Isle of Wight Festival's This Feeling Stage last Autumn - getting noticed - and becoming one of their presenters. Puts artists at instant conversational ease. Boom.

Now a regular DJ on This Feeling’s decks, as well, you'll probably bump into her somewhere soon if gigs and festivals are your thing…

Our “Lullaby Lou” was already a hectic hard worker when she first came into this tale (Liverpool Sound City 2018). A few short years later - despite nowadays being in a frenzy of demand, and Just before presenting In It Together Festival's artist interviews - she met with rock showman, Victor of MOSES, in Shoreditch.

The Commuting Mad Dog was born and went to work at Liverpool Street Station.

Lou and Mad Dog, turning heads.

"Sounding absolutely fantastic" (says music guru, John Kennedy of Radio X).

The dance punky tune is in a genre of it's own with (so far) comparisons to Talking Heads, Jane's Addiction, The Clash and Blur.

Louise is woven into many a band's back-story. It was not her first time meeting MOSES so they just relaxed and had fun.

As the positive reactions and radio play keep coming, there's no denying that people are enjoying the collaboration’s result. A simple concept as engaging as Lou and Victor are themselves, it made SO many people happy while they were filming. Some exclaimed aloud and came over to talk to/photograph 'Mad Dog'. Others just stared or burst out laughing. Some people just thought “London” and continued on their way.

" And i feel so alive now When i make that call
It is an understatement To say i'm bold".

Directed by Louise Schofield and MOSES: 'Mad (About My Dreams)' video, June 2022. Audio production: Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studio. From the forthcoming second album, ‘I Still Believe! Do You?’

Louise Schofield is in the vanguard of multi-background/generation women who are influencing the shape of a new, guitar-blessed, music industry from the grassroots venues up.

To see good people rise to the occasion is a thing of beauty.

Absolute kudos to allies of every gender who are in support - more of this please (festival bookers with clout, I'm looking at you to watch this growing collective of consultancy).

The pandemic highlighted key workers in all fields. Included should be the live music industrious (see Music Venue Trust) on and off stage. The Newer Wave is literally a FESTIVAL of influencing names! A parallel dimension feed into the mainstream with a refreshingly inclusive attitude - and it's own "faces".

Almost Famous?

Blessed to again be out at interdependent gigs, I see how many artists and audiences recognise radio presenters (via social media) and many friends from TheZineUK doc's pages, in the way that "back in the day", music fans would say "oh look, there's (name) from ("...NME? etc")!

Femme-power rich festivals like CroCroLand (Some of 2019’s Festival Highlights presented by Louise) and DecoloniseFest highlight the diversity of necessary DIY. Watch their spaces scouting and sourcing seeds of the near future. Talk to the many queen bees of the new rock n roll…

Must be a Nottingham / Robin Hood thing going on, as The Chase were Music Industry champs at SoccerSixFest in May

Amidst this hive, Louise is a busy interview host of the music festival / entertainment awards circuit with a finger-on-pulse reputation.

Also a very good sport!

Recently on the pitch with fellow multi tasking shakers, Abbie McCarthy and Katie Owen (on Soccer Six's Blueballz team!)!

With multi million views of her BBC Sesh comedy, now her music TV show, 'Spill The Sound' (made in Manchester) commissioned for a second series the hard work is paying off.

Louise has accumulated a wealth of know-how by virtually being a one-woman TV studio. It makes sense that Lou is D.O.P. for 'Mad About My Dreams', a video which is putting a smile on the face of 2022. Right?

Londoners commute from Barking to the Isle Of Dogs?

"Using the skills I've built up was a treat getting to create this video.

I've always had the attitude that if you want to learn something new, or get where you want to be, you just have to go and do it.

I definitely think what I've learnt over the years - being hands on as my own camera, sound and presenter package for years - has put me in good stead for new challenges and I've always loved being able to make anything I like with no restrictions.

It was just a natural progression putting the skills I've acquired, to something new"

This mad, creative collaboration is a total escapism from the horror of reality and is much needed by the psyche of music/arts fans and children of all ages, right now. Mission: Entertain. Job: Done. Good call, Lou/MOSES.
