The headliners are no ordinary band of musicians, more an all-genre collective of audiovisual wunderkind. They’ve a prolific gift of fresh releases to perform live on stage and told TheZineUK:

“Playing new tunes, it's a good feeling hearing something you've just written happening around you in a venue”

something in the lake

This incredible sonic experience have their track ‘Blind’ (produced with Jadu Heart) on EP 3 of 6 within ‘Slow Dance ‘23’.

something in the lake recently self released the exquisite title track of their February EP, ‘Listener’ (click here for the video filmed and directed by Lara Kuijper) -

Scene-shaping ASBO called them “young musical geniuses” in Rosario Blue’s review.

That’s two crucial songs of the year already - and these aren’t the band’s only January 2024 releases!

something in the lake’s triumvurate is completed by the latest single, ‘Daylight’ - sparkled on Radio X (early supporter, John Kennedy, has played it twice on X-posure). It’s also been aired on BBC Introducing: “This track has an ethereal yet haunting vibe to it, and it is gonna stop you in your tracks when the vocals come in. something super special, this” - Presenter, Abbie McCarthy.

28th evening of Love Month is gonna be a MOMENT

TheZineUK felt something in the lake live on stage… then had to catch another… and another! Personally, as a fan of how timeless Radiohead and The Beta Band creations are, I’d recommend these (also timeless) newcomers to fellow fans.

something in the lake have their own next gen movement as a following which is obvious from what goes on at live shows and from the audiovisual peers in that mix: lake district, the musical.

Excitingly, there are two other Slow Dance ‘23 artists playing live on 28th February - further exhilarating an alternative all star line up at The George

Plutoz Beach

Gracing the Slow Dance 23’ compilation with ‘More Than A Drunken Night’ which is part of the unreleased mixtape ‘DIGITAL SCURVY,’ set to unveil in 2024.

Comparisons to FKA Twigs and Bjork, the ‘Intergalact Space Pop’ of Plutoz Beach goes beyond genres to a powerful sonic installation.

Who? Raised by the moon and stars, an artistic force from space, guided by sensuality and melancholy. Unconventional and unpredictable songwriting style, weaves a vibrant tapestry of sound.

‘More Than A Drunken Night’ lands in ears with (possibly) friends of The Clangers drumming along as Doctor Who’s TARDIS is hi-jacked by singing moon faeries playing the controls as instruments… It’s weirdly pretty - and addictive.

LIPWORMS

New-new, from Portsmouth, LIPWORMS started this year’s Slow Dance release campaign (on 15th January) with ‘Handshake’ (@thezineuk tweeted: “Mesmerising kraft-groove” as it felt like Kraftwerk would have been fans).

They weave club-ready techno rhythms into a dark, sticky web of psychedelic hypnosis, ‘handshake’ is the raw spontaneity of a rock ensemble carried away by the frenzy of the moment.

”Bands have made dance music punk before, but this group take it further, fully utalising the flux between instruments into a headonistic trance, you can feel the energy between this band, they almost snake-charm the psych out of clubmusic with aggressive and reaching intent.”

(Slow Dance)

What a debut single entrance for LIPWORMS.
